A rain of petals.
One by one they drop.
And I think of him
as they hit the blacktop.
His smile, his laugh
How he was nice to me
How he still cared, even
when he broke my heart totally.
The last petal left
and my heart is dead taut.
As it drops to the floor, I realize
He loves me not.
